Queen Utility

I have a Queen Mini Hunter Linerlock with Honey Amber Bone. Certainly looks great, and the D2 sharpens pretty well. There's a bit of vertical blade play in the linerlock though, which disappointed me somewhat.

Don't be too disappointed. Those aren't linerlocks in the usual sense, they're not really locks at all. Think of them more as a secondary "block" instead. The back spring is still what holds the blade open just like any other slip joint. I felt the same way after getting my first Old Timer 125OT but once I realized what it was all about, it was all good.

Guys, how is the nail pull on the Canoe and Utility. Do they have half stops?
My dogleg jack is perfect, except that it is hell on my fingers due to the shallow cut nicks and half stops.

God Bless

The Utility pauses, but is not a half stop.
It is soft.

The Canoe I have is soft with no half stops.

Both can be pinch opened

+1 I don't own a Utility (yet:D) But my Canoe and Copperhead can also be pinch opened. To be honest I initially felt like they were too soft as compared to my 1095 bladed Queens; but have since changed my opinion as I kinda like the option of being able to pinch open them:thumbup:.

Thanks Neeman, I have really fallen head over heels for the Canoe. I really like being able to pinch open knives. I love the steel, grind, molded bolsters, and the thick hafting. All for a perfect price.

God Bless

The canoe IS great. They are probably one of the most comfortable slipjoints to hold in my hand too. I think I'll pick up one in D2 to accompany my 1095 one. I've yet to experience the amber stag bone. Also gotta pick up that gunstock sometime.

The Utilities I own have very good snap, can't pinch them open-but it's due to the nature of the pattern, long slim handle rather than the characteristics of QC springs I'd say . Must look into a Canoe, all I have is a Hen&Rooster Baby Butterbean/Small canoe-canoette?.Nice little knife but don't really go for the large bolster look on this pattern.I like Barehead...can't have that with a canoe of course!
