Quelling Rumors

Those Persians are really nice looking blades... I must avert my eyes, at least for a while. Oh, and the El Bandito is making a comeback?! Oh boy. Is it too early to be thinking about my Christmas wish list???

OP, give 'em a try. If not happy, sell it on the exchange - Emerson's go quickly there.

The ergo's of Ernie's designs is where it's at. The Man knows how to design a working knife. For me, there is a "soul" that other, more "sterile perfect" brands lack. I have others too (Spyderco, Benchmade, Chris Reeve, Brous Blades among others) and none speak to me like an Emerson. You won't know if that's your taste unless you try.

Very well said. I had a folder that would be considered higher end ($100.00 +) and it was a reputable brand. Out of the box it was perfect. Very perfect. The more I looked the more I realized that it was an automated assembly line piece held to very tight tolerances with the aid of high speed computers.

I tried to like it and I just couldn't. I gotta tell you now, i friggin hated it and I'll never get an abomination like that thing again.

I'd use it, hold it, open it, and the thing did not speak to me in the least. It was dead and like you say, Officer's Match, no soul.

Get an Emerson. I can almost guarantee that you will have no issues. If you do, simply send it to EKI and let them know what you don't like about it.

Every Emerson I bought (only 3) spoke to me. There's a human touch on every one of them. There's a soul there. From the history of the knives to pesent day they are still built the same.

From the grease and washers to the scales and screws there is a reason for why the knives are the way they are. Give them a chance and they'll tell you why in their own time.

Great wisdom spoken here, Gents.^
I have 3 Emerson folders, HD7, CQC7 and a Jungle Commander. I can grab any one of them, clip that knife in my pocket and go! These 3 folders feel the same in my hand.
If I ever go to a knife show and stop at the Emerson table, I know I could add to my collection.

I have been wondering a lot about this myself lately since I have been considering getting my first Emerson. I have 2 of the collaborations with KAI, mainly to try out the design, I like one and have the other one awaiting replacement due to a myriad of issues. I'm glad to hear that EKI QC is improving and they seem really attentive to CS issues, the presence of a rep on here is an example of that.

On the flip side, I was at a well known DFW area knife store recently looking at Emersons and they told me that I should just wait on the ZT0620 due to it having the same features and having much better materials and QC.

There have absolutely been issues in the past, I've owned a few of them. That said, it seems like they've made a concerted effort to clear up those problems in the last few years, which I respect. As for edge retention, yeah, I find their 154CM is roughly equal to AUS8 run good and hard, but it's quite a bit tougher and more stain resistant. I honestly don't think Emerson runs it softer than most production companies and I haven't had a real problem with it. I do prefer some other alloys, but I don't think Emerson does a bad job with their steel by any means.

INTERNET = INFORMATION BOTH GOOD, AND BAD. now the problem is to separate Truth from Fiction. Recall a while back a Member who's Screen Name was MO HUNTER something, starting a trash Emerson thread.

Ernie the man himself came in and tried to get the guy to send his knives into EKI, Ernie personally got involved in making everything as right as humanly possible.

In the end I am still not sure if MO HUNTER who owned was it 3, or was it 4 Emerson's was ever happy. He did post some U-tube, that to me said nothing, and waisted time watching em.

But he has not ever posted again on this forum, that he personally turned in to the land of drama for a couple of weeks.

Me personally I saw a lot of RED FLAGS with his story, and INCONSISTENCIES.

I am not sure he even post on Blade Forum any longer, but that was not important to me.

I felt after Ernie, and EKI jump through hoops to try, and make him happy. He would have had the decency to post an ending to his story, and tell the world weather he was happy or not. If not why not.

Pennypincher I saw him selling his Emersons a while back, that should say something. Drama queens

I carried an Emerson PSARK for 14 years as a FF/Paramedic and abused it to hell and back. It's been in fires, crashes, and it has indeed saved 5 lived just because I had it when I needed it. Emerson's 154CM is outstanding! It holds an edge, it's easy to resharpen, and the lock has never failed. I am retired and it is still my daily carry knife, it fact it's nickname is AMEX because I don't leave home without it. I trust my life to my Emersons...nuff said for me...
