Quench plates?

Greetings to all,

Anyone ever used anthing like marble or granite as a quench plate?

They are waaay too slow to remove heat, mild steel is cheap for singles, its slow but will work, aluminum is 10X faster at heat removal and if you find cheap surplus plates can only be beat by copper or silver. Make them thick, 3/4 at least.

Nice! I'm saving for 1 inch thick by 4 inch by 20 inch silver plates! Haha just kidding. I got my aluminum quench plates from eBay.

I think mine were 50-60 off ebay. Aluminum 1x4x14
