What do you guys think about this spark arrestor? I talked to the sales manager and they stand behind their product. He said that you can't quote an efficiency of the arrestor as "an arrestor either works or it doesn't, it only takes one ember" It is designed to eliminate all sparks. It seems just like everything else we buy these aren't cheap. Their 2" mini quencher for shop style vacuums is $455 and their 4" is $523. But you get what you pay for and I wouldn't want to go cheap on something like this. Seems a lot better then a home made water trap, and better then a giant industrial all in one unit. I like the idea of hooking this to my HEPA shop vac the before my dust deputy. Still kinds of scares the shit out of me though, basement shop and all. But, I figure I can mitigate any major issues by dumping shop vac after each use and then placing shop vac outside after use in case of a smoldering ember.

Anyway, I wasn't sure if anybody has ever seen this system/company before and just wanted to get some thoughts. Thanks fellas.

Hi,
I was looking at that product and looks very good. I think I would do the same if I decide to get the dust deputy.
Thanks,
Jon

After years of running PVc and aluminum etc to a vac I found its best, and the safest to have the sparks go into a five gallon bucket of water, sweep the floor. and have a filtered air cleaner. I've seen some guys get a couple of cheap box fans and run angle iron around the exhaust side and put inexpensive filters in them.

I had a fire in a Vac once. I prefer to vacuum the air and sweep the floor. You could do quite a air filter set up for that kind of money.

Hi Laurence,
What do you do with the water in the bucket after the end of the day?
I guess as far as the vacuum contents, that can be thrown away in the trash.
Thanks laurence,
Jon
