Hi this is DaQo'tah

Back before I went on a vacation to Las Vegas, I read on this Forum about Texaco type "A" quenching oil that was now for sale from "Uncle Al Lawrence".

Now the moment I got back from my vacation I placed an order, however while I was on the phone with the Uncle Al people, they told me that there was a problem now with the shipping of the one Gal. cans of oil via UPS.

I did place an order for some oil, and I gave them my name, address, and VISA card number. The man on the phone said that if there still was a problem with shipping, that I would be given a call...

Well, no oil has showed up yet, and I sent an email but so far no news...

Did anyone else get some Type A oil from them lately?
Is it on its way do you think?

DaQo'tah, I also called uncle Al. I didn't order any of his oil though. He told me that it isn't Texaco type A, it's Chevron quenching oil 70. I looked up the specs for Chevron 70 and it's the equivilent to Texaco type C not A. One of the big differences between the two oils is in the quench speed. Texaco type A is around 28 seconds and the Chevron 70 is down around 12 seconds if I remember correctly. I found a source for the Type A oil here in Salt Lake City. I will have to order it by the drum, so I am going to be selling it at my cost plus shipping and containers when I get some in February if you're interested.

hi this is DaQo'tah

oh no...

when I placed my order, I asked about 4 times for type "A"! and the guy didnt lead me to believe that I was getting anything but Type"A".

HOWEVER, I was not actually talking to the boss Al, but some other guy there....perhaps he was wrong and I got the wrong stuff comeing?

as far as getting some real Type "A" from You?...sounds good, I just hope I dont end up with the wrong stuff here in a few days based on the wrong information I received.

If you do get a drum, and want to sell a gal. or two, pay attention to the trouble that Uncle Al seems to be haveing shipping the stuff without it leaking...

.......Darn, type "C".?......darn i thought for sure i had the right stuff....
