I was at a surplus store today and they had some pretty big chunks of aluminum.Plate quenching is done with aluminum plates but what kind,I know there are as many variations on aluminum as steel.Does it have to be a specific kind?
This aluminum was labeled 60-61??? i think (its been a long day)
they ranged in price from 65 $ down to a few buck for small stuff,Is that price right? the store doesnt have a website but they always have cool stuff,i picked up a nice peice of bronze cheap and some copper barstock too :)

6061 will be fine .Don't know the price.....Do you know what type of bronze ?Some bronzes can't be soldered.....The bridge here has been closed all day with the flood. The new bridge isn't even finished and it's seen three major floods !! What a test !!!

 I hope your not trapped down there Mete.
I heard alot of road closings out your way,Hope your dry.Did they make the deadline for that bridge?I talked to a friend that got laid off from that job last week,he said there was ALOT of rods to tie, should make for a strong bridge

The bronze wasnt labeled but its a nice color. It looks like a buss bar  It's more copper colored than some of the bronze I've seen.

Joe,
I weld buss bar quite frequently, as well as many larger coppper jobs and I can assure you that, if it is indeed buss, it is most certainly copper.
