Im curious. How come the ram horn scales are offered only on the 110? All the other knives in the custom shop dont have ram horn as a scale option. All the other scale options are there though. I cant be the only one interested in ram scales on other knives. Or am I? Is it me or is ram horn just not at popular as bone scales?

Buck does offer ram's horn from time to time in limited edition models. Yet it's not offered in the custom site on all models. Here's that material when they offered it on a 112. DM

Hawk, it is a 3 dot 112 blade. So, 440C. Buck had these made and offered them at the 20 year Reunion. It has the added benefit of the full hollow grind. DM

Like DM said above,

I have seen many Buck knives with Rams horn scales,

532, 192, 500, 110, 112 come to mind off the top of my head. If you like I can add photo's of three on this list.

I really like ram's horn!
David's is an excellent example.
I had a 501 Buck did a few years back, but I think it found a new home.
I've still got some 110's and a 112 in ram's horn.

Looking at David's you can see the rich darkness of the horn. My understanding is that it is fired lightly with a torch to get the color.
Anyone know for sure?

Thanks for the steel up date David.

Sure JB I would like to see the 112 and 110 in rams horn. Thanks

I didn't know ram horn scales where offered on so many models in the past. That is cool. I got a 110 with ram horn. Do they really fire the knive with a torch? Interesting. I've only seen a handful of ram horn knives pictures. Any pictures would be much appreciated.

Thanks JB those are really nice . Thanks for taking the time to post your pictures.

Im really loving these pictures of ram horn knives. The variety of knives and ram horn scales themselves is great. I wished I could post a picture of my 110 ram horn. I've join a photo sharing site. Just couldn't figure out how to get the picture from the site onto here.

Red, go to the top on the Buck topic menu page. There is topic that tells you how to post photos. Yes, it is a pain in the rump for the first 6 times. After that the novocain kicks in and you won't feel the drilling. DM

hopefully this works

Red,

To post a pic from photobucket:

Open photobucket library, put your cursor onto target photo, left click cog/wheel in upper right corner of photo, left click on the word "share", left click on "IMG", paste into forum post with a right click of your mouse.

I hope that this helps.
