You need to keep the fuel to air mixture within certain parameters. Increasing the gas without increasing the air will not increase the heat output of the torch. You really need to get a larger burner.
You might be able to adapt a Bunsen burner to your task. They work with a fairly large range of heat outputs. The ones without a needle valve are inexpensive but you would need to control the gas flow from the regulator on the tank. The Bunsen burner designed to work with propane is a little different from the one designed for natural gas.
Harbor freight has a set of solid carbide micro drills. Start with the smallest, .20mm and see if it makes a difference. It may be too big and render your torch useless, most factory holes are .15mm. A bernzomatic JT680 will not stay lit at fully open when drilled to .35mm. http://www.harborfreight.com/20-piece-solid-carbide-micro-bit-grab-bag-44924.html
