I want to ask how to properly acid wash an antique wootz blade.

I know the blade must be clean of any dirt/grease before wash, but do I need to polish the blade first? What is the proper solution to wash? and how long do I "dip" the blade in the solution?

Thank you for all the help.

If it's an antique Wootz blade, the proper way is to LEAVE IT ALONE.
Any "improvements" you make will only ruin the collectibility and value.

Some times an acid wash can wreck a blade. Listen to Mr. De Shivs, save yourself some serious heartache.
