question about ASH-1

I have one more question if somebody could answer for me.Which of the two weighs more? I would think the ASH-1, but seeing as the handle dimensions differ I thought maybe the NO-e.thanx

the ASH-1 weighs 434 gr.
NO-E weighs 494 gr.

just to confuse

the Caretaker (CP NO-E w/ butt grind) weighs 480 gr.

That would mean the the NO-e is heavier? Now I am confused. ISnt the ASH-1 .31 vs the NO-e .25? I also thought the ASH is about a .5" longer over-all with a 6.5" blade. Is this accurate? Where is the weight going?.

I think that's an ASH-1 SE which is .220" thick.

If the original SH-1 was anything like the SH-2 and SHBM, there were probably no two exactly alike. Things have changed, all ASH-1 CG's should be nearly identical and quite a bit fatter than any of the old SH-1's.

The SE has a beautiful distal taper and it's pretty thin, it's tip is not as chunky as something like an FFBM. The CG will be thicker but it's still full flat ground, unless all of the distal taper was removed, the tip should still be pretty thin, but my SE has survived throwing with only superficial tip damage, it's still pretty strong.

Is Skunk getting more shipments? Is that why troughs are shown as empty, as if they may be filled soon?

Only Skunker would truly know what that means. Even then, he is probably too drunk most of the time to know :D

But I can tell you this.... There are some back in the trough right NOW!

I just popped over there and it says they are down for Inventory. That mean he is filling up now?

Distal taper is a taper in the thickness of the blade.

If you look at the spine of a blade with distal taper, you will see a gradual thinning from the handle to the tip.

A knife without distal taper would have a spine with parallel sides until the grind of the tip.

Does the NO-E have a distal taper?

The last 2" or so.

Any knife that tapers to a point has one.

These are GW's, the distal taper is where they taper to a point.

Some knives (kitchen knives) start their taper at the scales.

Thats what I figured, any knife with a point would be tapered. The ASH just starts tapering sooner than the NO-E,right?
