Question about Benchmades re-blade program.

Wait... I'm pretty sure you can choose to go with coated or not.

So just for clarity...

Say you have a (whatever) and the blade (breaks, wears out, etc...) you can send your whole knife (in a box, not the original packaging) and $25 (satin) or $35 (coated) plus $5 (for return shipping) then your knife will be returned to you. Most likely cleaned and sharpened. Ask for a new clip (free) if you want as well. No, your old blade won't be returned. It will be used for sharpening practice, engraving practice, etc... then recycled.

Hope that answers any remaining questions. :)

And yes, I know I'm the one who started the thread. Other related questions have been asked and I've been paying attention.

Oh yeah and if it were me sending my knife in I'd absolutely call ahead to make sure they have the exact blade I want.

you will get whatever they have to replace your blade with. i sent in a 690. the 154 blades were gone so i got an s30v blade. i wanted one with bp coating but it wasn't available so satin s30v it was. yes, they kept the old blade

Does anyone have a link to this program? Or do you go to BM's main site and find it there. I've got a BM Warn 583 & 587 with combo blades that I'd like to have plain style , seeing that their still offering them in D-2 steel. Thanks for the help.

I sent in my old 942 that had a combo edge 154cm blade. I wanted to get a plain edge blade put on it. It came back with a plain edge S30V blade. I'm guessing that's because the 940, which is the newer version of the 942 comes in S30V. While it was there, they cleaned it, replaced all of the body screws, pocket clip and the omega spriongs, free of charge.
