Question about Black Blade Millie?

I just picked up a black-bladed plain edge Military in S30V. I got it "as" NIB for what sure seems to be a steal. This is my first Military model Spyderco and it's surely one heck of a folder. Fit, finish, etc. are really good and as everyone I'm sure who has one knows, the weight of the piece is amazing.

Now, I don't recall seeing many of the black-bladed models shown here and con't find anything positive (or negative for that matter) said about them.

Just curious, what say ye?

Any issues with the black-blade Military model I should know about *before* I start cutting up the joint?

:D

All black coating I have seen will show wear. The DLC coating on the Military should hold up better than most.

I have a black blade s30v. Mine has held up well, still tight, still sharp, a little wear on the coating, but other than that it has held up well

Thanks for the comments guys, I appreciate it.

I picked it up for $75 with the box. As far as I can tell it's brand new.

It seemed pretty cheap so I almost hesitated because I'm thinking there was something wrong with this version.

Good to know there's not!

I'm mostly looking forward to the flat-grind. I tried out a flat-ground Endura and it cut real well. So when I saw the flat-ground Military for that price I had to get it. That's cheaper than buying a new Endura and having it re-ground.

Thanks again for the comments.

You will find the Military an exemplary slicer (and all-around EDC)! Give it a shot in the kitchen - that big, FFG flat-spined blade really shines when it comes to slicing veggies, meat, fruits, etc.

Enjoy your new Millie!
