For those working with Cpm 3v how thick are you taking the edge before heat treating on an EDC folder? The two steels I normally use, 1084 & O1, don't require as high a austinizing temp or double wrapped foil. I take 1084 & O1 to.035-.050 depending on use and coat with the high temp PBC. With such high heats, double wrapped 309 foil and adding paper to the foil when wrapped is it safe to continue taking the edge down to. 035-.050 or can I go thinner/thicker?

I have taken to the final edge, about 0.015. I don't do the heat treat myself and they come out really clean just a little surface oxidation. I would go pretty thin because they are pretty tough and hard to sand after HT

0.035" would be a pain in the butt after heat treat with 3V because it doesn't grind easily when hard.
I grind down to 0.015-0.020" and 400 grit.

i leave mine thicker as its safer and i dont mind the post HT grind even at 61rc but many that have never ground any of the higher alloy stuff thinks its a bear (i can tell you its not bad comparred to hard cpm154 or s30v )
jsut a fresh ceramic belt gets you in the ball park really fast
