I never ordered CRK grease before so I didn't know what to expect.

So I purchase a tube of Christo-Lube Flourinated Grease off ebay and my pre conceived notion I thought this was supposed to be a white thick grease? But instead, what was inside is a very thin light oil.

I ask because everything I have seen on youtube shows that this fluorinated grease is a white thick grease and not a thin oil?

So is it an oil or is it a think grease? Or did CRK change their recipe?

Here is a picture of the tube and paperwork.. I could not take a picture of the oil as it just pours out and is clear like water.

Take this with a grain of salt as all the CRKs I've had have been purchased second hand.

What I've noticed with the grease is that it's kind of like ketchup. When you first start to squeeze it, out comes a little bit of thin liquid. Squeeze some more and then you get to the actual white grease.

I don't know if it separates or the light oil is supposed to be there to prevent it from setting up. I have gotten the white grease out first, followed by the oil.
I just try to mix it in the tube.

This happens if the grease sits unused for quite awhile.. Even the Finish Line Flourinated Grease from Amazon does this as well...

I am thinking is it possible the seller on ebay took an empty tube of grease and filled it with cheap oil?

The price of such a small amount is not cheap.

I have already squeezed out half the contents an no grease yet..

Was the tube open when you got it????
Doesn't look lie the tube has been handled, it looks new.

I always knead the tube before use in attempt to avoid the separation issues.

Open like how? Are you supposed to cut the end or stick a needle in it to allow oil (or grease to flow)?

I just took off the cap and squeezed. Is that normal? Or is there supposed to be a second step to open?

Like ice_man said, the grease will separate if it's been sitting around. Then again, it shouldn't be pouring out.

Unless they changed the packaging very recently you got sold some fake lube I think...

Yes, it does separate but not like what you are describing.

You're right, they do come open. I was thinking of something else.

My Feb 2016 Seb has the same tube, so they must have changed the packaging. Also my grease separates as described in the op unless I give it a good shake.

Try shaking the container. I got the same issue, thinking that i got a knock-off from the shop.

I went to the shop to get some explanation, the shopkeeper took it from me, shake it and, voila~

The grease separates as others have said. This is easily noticable when CRK used to sell it in the syringe. I still have that syringe. Much easier to apply. Wish they still did it that way.

Okay I did some shaking and then squeezing and it worked.. white grease came out.. But the tube is half empty from oil coming out first. A LOT came out because it was so light and I kept trying. So a waste for sure.

Wish that CRK would put a note that the grease separates ike this and that squeezing the tube is recommended cause this stuff is costly for 5 grams.

Anyway, thanks everybody for the advice!

Fortunately, like the label states, a little goes a long way. Pocket knives will be banned in the country before I use up the 4 or 5 tubes I have.

This a common issue for any solution left untouched for a long period of time, e.g. Loctite, paint. That's why you shake or mix 30 to 60 seconds before using.

I hold the end (tip down) and give it a couple flicks with my finger. Mixes it up nice.

One suggestion is to get "Finish Line Extreme Flouro' Teflon grease.. it is the same as the CRK grease.. and it comes in a syringe which is way easier to apply.. A lot of members here use the same thing...
