The Thru Hiker's ergonomics aren't bad. Although the handle is shorter than the width of my hand, I can still get a good grip on it, and choked up with my index finger forward of the guard, very good control of the tip of the blade.
It is slightly heavy for a necker, but I put it on a tek-lok anyway for left-side rear carry. Very unobtrusive but accessible.
Of course, it is almost too strong for a small knife, but who's complaining?
Esav,
Yes it is heavy for a necker, however, I got used to the weight very quickly and now I don't even notice the Tru Hiker unless I bend over and it swings.
This way I can carry my Tru Hiker AND my Preace Maker at the same time. I carry my PM horizontal in a cross draw on my left side.
I sure do like Fehrman knives!!
