Question about GEC models coming with out pins. (Hat Pins/Buttons that is)

When I first read the title, I thought it was referring to the pins that hold the knife together. Not having those would make me upset.

I had the exact same thought. What, no pins? How did that get past QC?

I call them buttons, not pins. Not sure if one is more correct than the other.

If GEC does a SFO for Ikea, the knives would come without pins. A tiny hammer would be included in the tube for the assembly. ;)

Here's what a button maker looks like...

Yes it was a poor choice of words on my part in the title. I know I have called them buttons in the past but the last person I heard taking about them was calling them hat pins and it stuck in my mind when I posted the question.

I actually have a button makers but it only does large buttons. The picture you have looks like it doses several sizes.

They don't do buttons with all models. It's a silly thing to fret about. :)

With apologies, I'm resurrecting this slightly goofy thread because I just had to share this somewhere. At the Rendezvous this year, I had the opportunity to chat with Charlie a bit. As most of you know, he is a gracious and absolutely delightful guy! At any rate, he had a basket of buttons (pins) and insisted that I take a few. I finally agreed but told him I don't know what to do with ones I have. Charlie then shared what he does with his. Just pull the pins out, stick a 5/8" magnet in the back and slap them on a metal surface! The pic below is a drawer on my desk in the office and is proving to be quite a conversation starter. Thanks Charlie!

Say, I'd forgotten about this idea, and I love magnets.

Thx.

(Aha.)
