question about grinds...

I think more than one person has confused edge geometry with primary grind here. When I made my wife a kitchen knife I used my belt grinder to sharpen from the very top of the spine (1/4") to the very edge. The knife doesnt shave hair very well but it slices and dices better than anything I have ever seen. It is incredible. I used a 4" wide belt grinder with a fantastic long platen, steel is W2 and the hidden tang resides in an old piece of pine.

For a given base and height, a right triangle (chisel) and an equilateral triangle (v-grind) will have the same area (b*h/2). For those same variables, the edge angle of the right triangle will be smaller than that of the equilateral, but I don't know how this relates to mass.
