Question about gun blued blades

I was wondering if there were any cleaners/polishes that are safe to use on a knife with a gun blued finish. The blade has some rust that I can't seem to remove. Thanks in advance.

A traditional method is to scrape the rust off with a penny.

If it is gun bluing it can be cleaned by using 0000 steel wool and a light grade of oil,or the penny as Cougar said.

not with the oooo steel wool and oil....need to use an old penny solid copper.

Be careful how you rub! Even fine steel wool can remove bluing!! It may not remove it all, but it will cause it to fade.
