I just received my Herb's Yellowstone honing polish, is it suppose to be as hard as a brick? I don't really know. The instructions say to butter so my assumption would be that it's suppose to have somewhat ofhttps://vimeo.com/136437507 a softer texture and not a brick feel. Did I get a old batch that's been setting on a shelve for many years, or is it normal.

The bar I had was very hard and chalky and kind of a pain in the butt to apply to the strop.

Yup mine are hard as a rock too. I scrape it with the spine over my strop then butter it in. Works well.
