Question about inlays

This question has been bugging me for a while so I will go ahead and ask.

I have seen several knives posted that mentioned brass inlays but I have never been able to pick out where the inlay is. I have been guessing that it is that enlongated oval I sometimes see in the "spear" engraved below the blade spine. Am I guessing correctly on this or am I all wet?

Thanks!

Yes that is where I found it to be ! My mind
needs to know why it is there ? does it cut
down the vibration or what ? Jerry

Yes, as Jerry said the brass inlay is in the Sword of Shiva and often between marks such as this
one (~~~~~) and sometimes similar to this one ƒƒƒƒƒƒ~~~~~~ƒƒƒƒƒ.

And Jerry, you have it Exactly right!! It's to cut down on vibration, but vibration of what, no one knows.

Bro correct me if I'm wrong
here,.... Actually it is probably like so many other things on the khukuri, like the Sword of Shiva, the cho, the rings around the handle and perhaps some of the differently shaped keepers on the butt cap, and all true meaning lost in antiquity.

If I remember correctly the keeper is usually refered to as
‘The Eye of God’ due to its shape whether diamond or oval.

The Yvsa Cherokee Special has several things that have meaning to most American NDN's and Especially to me. The 7 pointed "star" keeper represents the 7 directions. The 4 rings around the handle the basic 4 directions or "winds." The diamond inlays are "Medicine Man Eye's." The silver, brass, copper and steel are all "Earth" based metals.
And although the Yin Yang symbol is most recognized as an Eastern Symbol I like it because it represents "balance" which plays an important part in most Am.NDN spirituality.
The YCS is very much a bringing together of West & East.

Thanks to you all for the information! I thought it must be there but the color didn't seem to show up the way the brass bolsters do in the photos.

I noticed my Sanu made 25" Chainpuri has a unique set of inlays --- it has 3 inlays --- 2 of them are brass inlays while the one at the middle is a coper inlays. Sanu is very creative ... and I like it!

One of the brass inlays at my 20" Sirupati was being peeled off accidentally when I cleaned it with old rag --- I fixed it again but it is loose --- any tips on how to fix it again properly --- I guess the size of the brass piece is slightly smaller than the size of the groove --- how to replace with a new one ... any tips?

Always ...

:
Mohd you might try taking a small hardened punch like a nail set used to set finishing nails slightly under the surface of wood trim and tap the brass back into place. I did this successfully on one of mine. Any small hardened piece of steel that will fit inside the groove should work. Be sure and wear safety glasses or goggles!!!
