Question about KVT

Are the bearings free to rotate independently of the washer or are they imbedded into it? In my head I'm trying to imagine the system and how it works since I dont have a knife with it...yet . Thanks in advance.

the blue washer is somewhat thick and the ball bearings are imbedded into the washer and are exposed on both sides. The bearings are free to rotate within that washer.

Thanks for the pic. I've seen the washers before, I just wasn't sure if the bearings were able to rotate within it. I appreciate the pic of the Tilt though, since I've never seen one taken apart.
