Question about long fingernails on men. Drug-related?

All kinds of things...

For example, vitamin bottles or others that come with a seal on top?
Pinky nail slits it right open.

Also useful for moving around very small objects like tiny screws, nuts etc.

You know, I've had them for such a long time and use them so naturally and habitually that I've got to think some more.

Taking the plastic wrap off the neck of a new bottle of Listerine...

Right. Of course I thought of that...

Sometimes you know, you're in the bathroom and you don't want to go out and get a knife!

Anyway, like Sal Glesser says, all critters have knives. These are my own personal attached ones, for small & light use. ;)
 
I Work In a hospital that deals alot with drug users and i do see the long pinky nail "Nose shovel" on coke addicts who admit to using it for such, but i also used to see it an alot of younger guys i knew weren't on coke when i worked at clubs, it is often seems to occompany tatoos as i gues a generall anti conformist thing.

used to see girls do it in the disco days all the time, worked just fine too.

to reiterate again you are aware you're on bladeforums right? maybe i just carry my knife on my pants to the potty since it is college thus communal potty...not in a mall ninja sense, in that i put on my pants to go in the hall and my native is always on my pants that i have been wearing...
 
I am a white male, and I live am an urbanite (I live in a town of about 70,000). I keep my fingernails short, on nearly all occasions. The only time mine run long are when I'm too preoccupied with other things to clean 'em up. Can't stand long fingernails, especially on guys.
 
I see the fingernails relating to knives enough to post here.

I remember witnessing a couple of girls fight over a guy in high school once. These were both black girls I knew in school that were delightful to be around and always smiling and happy but with the longest hardest fingernails I'd ever seen and always painted up a different color. One day in the school yard there was screaming and shouting and then the next thing I know these two girls are literally tearing the crap out of each other. Hair coming out, blood, digging those nails into each other and when the teachers finally got them off each other they looked like they had been attacked by big cats. Even the teachers got scratches, and deep scarring ones. I saw one of those teachers at the Wal-Mart in my home town when I was in for my 25 year HS reunion and he still has the scar from that incident on his forearm.

The next day Rodney, the guy these girls were fighting over came to school looking like he'd met up with a cat too. He probably always thinks twice before playing in his own back yard again when it comes to two woman. :eek:

Fingernails as knives? Yep, I've seen em rip flesh. They work as knives alright. :D

My fingernails aren't real long, but I keep 'em longer than a lot of men. Its from my days of going fishing almost daily. Try untangling monofiliment fishing line without any fingernails...

Yes, they do of course.
After reading all the posts about using pinky nails as scoopers to snort coke,
just would like to make the point that I don't keep mine long like that.
They're not long enough to use as scoopers, not by a long shot.

Just a little bit longer than the other 8; which I keep pretty short.

Not backtracking, just clarifying.
