Question about marking blades.

I have made a few knives by the stock removal method. So far I have made knives out of 1095 and 154 CM. I am looking for the best method to mark these blades. Etching seems very popular. What about having a tang stamp made? I would think I would have to stamp the blade prior to heat treating so that the stamp is harder than the metal being stamped.

My questions are...

Does striking a stamp in the blade tang interfere with the heat treat by compressing or stressing the metal? (Sorry if this is a stupid question).

Does anyone know of a good source for purchasing a stamp.

Thanks.

Edit - I now see that holmsy has a similar question below. My search did not seem to work and I neglected to scroll down before posting.

no one will blame you for not turning up a search, theres also a post lower about how useless it is.
