Question about MREs

Yep SEVA for me as the old stand-by. When I need a stove to work that's the one i pick.
And when you compare the total weight of the package + fuel the weight of the SEVA is not that much greater. When you consider the design and durability the SEVA wins hands down. Fewer moving parts, less maintaince, less to go wrong when you can't afford to have anything go wrong!
That said I do use a canister stove for short overnight or car camp trips just cuze they are easy & fast. On a longer trip the SEVA is my choice.

Real Military MRE's come with a heater that will warm up the entree. All the kosher ones/vegetarian one are good also.

Yeah but in the "real" military you don't always have time to heat them up! When your carrying all your gear on your back ounces add up quick. I used to break down all my MRE's to store inside my Ruck. I would leave out the heating elements as we normally didn't have enough time to use them anyway, not to mention the scent, the steam, and the trash are all target indicators.
