So...decided to make do a couple hamons. Ive never had/seen one etch out like this. Not sure if its a thick hamon line, or two hamons. So, did I do something really cool, or did I mess up?

Guess I better include, its 1095, forged, normalized. Coated with rutlands. 10min soak at 1450, quench in parks and tempered.

Looks pretty nice. I get that double line sometimes. It usually goes away to some degree in sanding. How much have you sanded it?

I think one reason it may happen is if the clay lifts on one side, or the sides were not even.

I agree that double line is cool. Makes me want to try lines of clay running with the edge rather than perpendicular to it like I normally would.

For multiple line hamons look up tai goo rainbow hamon. Him and don Andrade have this down perfect. To the OP was this an interrupted quench? My thinking is the second line was cause by the next quench

Yes, it was an interrupted quench. Its sanded down to 1500. That is after 2 etches in ferric and one in warm vinegar.
