Question about N690Co steel

Just a quick question...I'm not a fanatic of steels, especially because I have found that even "low end" steels like 440 or AUS8 (which should actually be considered middle class steels) work fine for me (at least for my EDC tasks). Still, I like to know what I'm buying, and lately I have a little crush for the Fox Dream Catcher:

but I have no real clue about the steel, which is Bohler N690Co, so I would like to have some opinions...and I'm sure u will help me.

Easy to sharpen, VERY stain resistant, holds a nice edge and cuts aggressively.

Thank u. It does sound pretty good.
I guess I won't let that knife far from my hands for long....

i'm pretty sure this is what extrema ratio knives use... which are (from what i've heard) very high end, durable blades. def on my list of knives to wn.

that blade you've got linked there is quite beautiful.

In my comparison testing, N690 held an edge about as well as VG10 or 154CM. Maybe a bit better, though I'm not sure you'd see the difference in every day use.

It takes a very fine edge.

It's one of my favorite alloys.

Yes Knarfeng ! I tested it as a Fox made TOPS edc for a year. Excellent for that use . While not so well known here it's very popular in Europe.

If I'm not mistaken, N690Co is the European version of VG10.
This has been my impression also. They both feature cobalt, and seem to roll under stress rather than chip.

The performance is similar. The compositions are significantly different.
