What is the steel like on these knives an the fit and finish?
Thanks

You did not read the description, did you
BLADE STEEL:5Cr13 steel(58-59HRC)

That's roughly equivalent to 440A.

5Cr13 likely indicates mainland China manufacturer. Chinese Fit and Finish can be anything from nasty to nice.

The name they have give this knife, "Tactical Tanto Hunting Knife", is a contradiction in terms, as a tanto blade shape is not very good for hunting. If you really want this for hunting, you really should be looking at a different design. If THAT is what they call a hunting knife, I'd question the rest of their abilities, as well.

If it were I, I would pass. For $99 I could name a bunch of blades I would rather have as either a tactical knife or a hunting knife.

I asked about the steel because different places list different steel.(I did read it) This places prices are very steep for these but on ebay you can get them direct from china for about 30 bucks.

Sigh. I tried stating it politely. I will be blunt. The design sucks. Even at $30.

which design is bad? The designs seem practical to me. On a side note, some guy in Canada is selling these on ebay along with other knives for these prices and some fools actually buy them. BTW dorito monk, I think these prices are rediculous but, I would argue that these are made of "pot metal". 440c for example is a good steel and so is aus-8a.

I see several designs that resemble the products of top quality makers.... Walter Brend and Grayman to name a couple..

I saw the brend on a lot of the knives. If they didn't put that on it they would sell more I think.

information item: 440A is not 440C. Very different alloys.

These aren't 440C
They aren't AUS8.

They are a Chinese alloy with a composition somewhere between 420HC and 440A.

You asked our opinion. We told you. But, if you like them, buy them.
