Thomas are you saying that all though the bar goes all the way across it is nothing to be worried about as this just the design of this particular frame lock? The lock seems very secure and there absolutely no play of the blade in any direction when locked and the lock bar goes all the way to the other side. BTW, this is now my favorite Kershaw. I have Zings, ENRG-2 and skyline with many other Kershaws. The OD-1 is the perfect EDC light, sharp and slim and very fast in the hand with a very sharp blade. I noticed on the Zings and now the OD-1 the new steel 14c28n has a verrrryyy sharp feel to the edge crisp and aggressive type edge. I have been waiting for the OD-1 for months and like the knife a lot! And thank you for your input. It helps me to understand the design and function of the knife much better. It is amazing how Kershaw makes USA made products for a very reasonable price.
