Question about PayPal

I purchased a knife here from another member (both of us gold, both many and 100% pos feedback). Everything went smooth. He was patient with me getting money and I was patient with him shipping although as it turned out both happened very fast. Overall, one of my best dealing here ever.

This was last week. I paid on Tuesday I think (maybe Monday) and had the knife in hand Thursday.

This morning, he emailed that he hasn't left feedback due to PayPal money is showing still pending. My PayPal usually shows up instantly and not as pending.

It has showed up on my credit card already and posted.

Is this normal to happen with PayPal occasionally? I want to make sure he gets the money I sent.
 
For some reason PayPal will hold funds for a few days. I suspect one of you doesn't use PayPal that much. It's happened to me on a couple of occasions. I've called them about it and was told they do that, they never gave me a real reason. It's all good though, the money will get there.

Depends on circumstances as well as both user's settings. You'd really have to list all your user settings as well as his user settings for anyone to know why something was pending somewhere.

PayPal is a lot more complicated and nuanced than most people understand. In fact, PayPal is not 100% transparent, like say CC receipts. For example with a CC receipt both the buyer and seller see the same receipt right away, unlike PP. Which often leads to circumstances such as this... One guy sees something but the other can't see it. Then people get upset because a match hasn't occurred. Can you blame them? Believe it or not, PP's contract allows these practices.

I suspect what is happening is PP debited your CC but won't post to the other user's PP account until the CC debit is 100% clear according to PP's polices, which are probably different from your CC's policies. All they see is a "pending" transaction. That's no the same as a post. Just because it's showing up in your CC account doesn't mean anything in PPs eyes. All you can do is wait until the post occurs.

I've had this happen to me when the buyer used an "e-check" through PayPal. It took several days to clear. Did you use a debit card by chance? Otherwise, this seems unusual, but if you have the funds/limit on your card, I would say you guys have nothing to worry about.
 
its usually only immediate when you use paypal funds. ( money that is already in paypal) i am sure its only because you used a credit card there is a delay and everything will be ok.
 
I've never experienced a credit card delay for purchaser funds clearing. In anycase if it continues more than 3-4 business days I would call Paypal
 
Ok. We figured out what happened. It was strictly user error and looking at the wrong transaction is all.
