Question about S30V Military

Hi I am hoping you guys could tell me if the standard black G-10 S30V silver blade Military is still made with a nested liner on only one side of the knife, or does it have two like my carbon fiber S90V Military?

I ask because I dropped my S90V Military at work last week and broke about a millimeter off the tip. I was able to re-grind the blade and fix it so that it kept its original shape but had to remove a good deal of metal. Well I don't want to carry it at work any more.

I am thinking of getting a standard S30V model to use at work but I am wondering about any differences in strength if it only has a liner on one side. Does that affect the longevity of the pivot or blade to have it rubbing on the G-10? Is the handle a lot more flexible with one liner? Or do the two knives hold up about the same with the exception of edge retention. Do I lose much with only one liner?

Thanks in advance:)

The latest ones all have it is my understanding. My CPM D2 model has it.

That's a good question. I believe (50/50) that they do have the nested liners on the newer versions.

Hopefully someone with more spydie senses will chime in :D

Yep their the same just checked my brothers millie and my S90 millie.

I have 4 Millies (BG-42, S90V, S30V, D2), the oldest one being the BG-42 (blade stamp says oct 2006) so I guess it's safe to presume that all the new stuff has 2 liners

The second partial liner was introduced on the BG-42/CF sprint run and became standard on the S30V/G-10 model at that time. The older models I have are still tight after years of use, so I wouldn't be too concerned even if you got an older model.

All of the newer Military knives have the nested liners on both sides. But to tell you the truth, I don't notice much difference. I have a brand new S30V digicam Millie, and one of the older S30V Millies without the phosphor bronze washers and extra nested liner, and they both feel exactly the same to me. If my eyes were closed, the only way that I'd be able to feel a difference is in the blade jimping, and the fact that the G-10 is slightly worn on the older one.

Well I went down today and bought a Standard G-10 S30V Military. It only has a liner on one side but feels rock solid with no blade play at all. It sounds alot different than my other one kinda scratchy but maybe the G-10 smooths out after a while.

Maybe someone could give me an idea of just how old it is. The pocket clip is attached with black philips head screws but the body is put together with silver torx heads. It came in a Grey and black box as opposed to the red and black box my other Spydercos came in.

Thanks again.

My older S-30V Military has a single nested liner, black philips head pocket clip screws, a hex head pivot screw, and silver torx head body screws. It has tank tread jimping on the thumb ramp, but no jimping on the finger choil. The word "Military" is etched on the blade. I bought mine in the fall of 2003.

The label on the box should have a two letter code (AE, DG or something like that) that will tell you the date of manufacture. I never can remember how the codes work, but if you post it here, I'm sure someone here can tell you what it means.

First letter is the month, in your example A is January
Second letter is year, in your example E is 2005
