Question about the mini-griptilian...

I've already posted in this thread, but thought I'd take some pictures of the Delica 4 & Mini Grip for comparison purposes.

My Mini Grip is the 555, the one w/ the thumb hole. I like the modified sheepsfoot blade. The 154cm blade holds an edge well and it's probably a better slicer than the saber ground Delica.

The handle is a little short and it's hard to get a good grip on it for tough cutting chores.

Overall, the Delica feels like it is a tougher knife. The handle is a little longer and the bi-directional FRN handle is comfortable and provides plenty of traction/grip. I have much more confidence using the D4 for hard jobs.

They are both nice knives and I don't think you'd go wrong getting either one, but I just like the Delica more. It's a great edc knife.

I have a full size grip and a Cabella's D2 mini, I love the cabellas edition becauseit has full steel liners instead of the partial steel liners of regular grips.

Just to add to thantos1858's post, the handles of the Cabela's Griptilians are identical to all the other Grips.

Yeah its a great knife but the primary reason is cost. If the model 710 or 940 or 705 was 70 bucks that would be the most popular.

Cost may be a factor for many, but I generally choose to carry a Mini Grip over knives that I own that cost a great deal more, including my 710, 940 and 705.

The design of the Mini Grip is outstanding. It is a compact knife that carries comfortably, opens easily and smoothly, locks open with zero play, is comfortable to use, cuts well and is easy to close.
Yes, it has "plasticky" Noryl GTX scales - but they are robust, grippy!, and light. It have absolutely no desire to change mine for custom G10 or CF.

I own Delicas, but rate the Mini Grips much higher.

Mini Grip

I had the same question and ended up in 2 months with

Ritter Mini grip and Delica

Full sized Ritter grip and Endura

The ritters have a high flat grind and a differnt blade shape - they both came scary sharp.

For some reason I prefer the mini grip in the small and the Endura in the big. Probably because I find the full size grip too large in the pocket for my light knife needs

Note the ritters are easy to open and close without shifting your grip with one hand. If it is a knife you take out use and put away a number of times a day that could be a noticeable advantage.

All are good!! Have fun
