Question about the new CQC 7 Flipper

can i have yourz?^
:D

I wish it was mine! Its a customers that was sent in for some custom scales. Some scales that I will say should be epic. Never seen these materials together before and they are pretty rare to find too. So i'm looking forward to it!

Looks like UPS lost my knife :( Emerson shipped it on Monday and UPS has no record.

There's a chance it's on a truck on its way to my state, but if it doesn't arrive tomorrow I'll have to have an investigation launched and concluded so that UPS can refund my money.

^Hope it works out. I wish Emerson would use plain brown boxes, generic tape and a nondescript return address. I'm so emotionally invested in Emerson knives I'd probably pop a vein if a knife got "lost".

UPS found it. Delayed another week, but it's moving. UPS tried to pin blame on Emerson.

It's a shame they don't use FedEx. Between USPS and UPS I'd choose a vagrant on horseback.

Pictures of knife in a week.

I live in Alaska. When I order from Emerson, I pay a little bit extra for USPS Priority Mail. Usually arrives in 4 days. Up here, USPS is the cheapest and fastest service. Fed-Ex is the worst.

That's amazing. USPS is terrible in Kentucky. I have the names and numbers for three managers in the region that I call at least once a month. They mark packages as delivered that aren't. I had two packages last Christmas that were lost from November until mid January.

At my work the old carrier frequently came in drunk (whenever he did come in; he often slept in his truck in the parking lot) and when I notified the local post office they just told me he was "about to retire" and left it at that. His replacement is no better.

At home they leave packages on top of the shared mailboxes rather than walk up the single flight of stairs next to the mailboxes.

I'm sure it's region by region, but the post offices around here are barely competent. I'm glad you all have some decent ones.

I think it all depends on your personal carrier. We seem to be lucky and have a good one. For awhile, UPS had a collaboration deal with USPS. You selected UPS and it went by truck to Washington state, where it eventually was put on the slow barge to Alaska. The barge went to Anchorage USPS, then out for delivery. Took 2 weeks or more. I think that grand experiment may have died.

I wish it was just a carrier. I won't carry on with my complaints, I'm just happy my knife is on the way.

It's only made it a town over from Emerson, but it's moving :)

Not to resurrect, but OP did you get it, and how is it working?
OfficersMatch-perhaps some of the best bolsters I've seen, the level of detail is tremendous! Well done.
Thanks, Neal

No worries, I've been distracted by a surgery and it slipped my mind.

First off, this knife is a beast. Fit and finish are perfect, which from what I've read about Emersons isn't the normal. The scales are black but have a subtle ripple look. The texture is aggressive. It pulls fabric hard and could be used in place of a metal file on softer materials. I doubt it would slip from my hand unless I threw it. The handle itself is very comfortable and feels natural in both saber any reverse position.

The blade itself is impressive. The finish on the s35vn is strange compared to my collection of 154cm knives. It's more like aluminum in appearance. When you feel it you can tell it's much, much sturdier stuff. The edge was shaving sharp on arrival (I still have a bald spot on my arm). There is no play with the blade. It travels on a dead line and locks without wiggle.

The action on this knife is superb. I can't over emphasize this. The flipper is flawless. One finger operation, with a hint of wrist flick, and this puppy is out. The Wave opening is almost guaranteed. There's so little resistance from the action that the only times I've fouled the opening is when I didn't catch the Wave on fabric.

The clip is tight enough that I can't clip it to dress pants without using my other hand to pull the open it a bit. Once on this thing does not move. My Benchmade will fall out of my pocket on occasion, but the Emerson is nearly glued in place.

My only gripe is the thumb disc. It's far too small to easily use. The action on the knife only opens with direct upward pressure, so any side pressure on the knife resists the opening. As I'm carrying this blade left handed I don't have the benefit of the cutout that's located on the right to give my thumb more access. I'll eventually buy a larger disc, but it's disappointing to spend more on an already $300 blade.

I was disappointed with Emerson's customer service. I spoke to a few representatives and received multiple stories about why my package was delayed. One rep told me that the knife was in the queue for a drill and tap, another said it was shipped two days prior and was on its way, another told me it was delayed because of MY UPS account preferences. Three were pleasant, one was very short on the phone. They never replied my email.

Customer service aside I highly recommend this knife.

Get a Pete Gray Monster thumb disk. I have one on my Mini A-100, and it is awesome!!

I went with a green one. I had a friend put lime green G-10 scales put on my Mini A-100.

That's about a perfect match. Bet it's easy to find that knife in the dark! I'm looking at the Polished Zirconium at Gray's to look like a bigger version of the stock disc, but part of me wants that Ti blue.
