Hey guys I hope that you are all doing well! I recently got more into folding knives and I edc since 2 years a Pro Lite Tanto. I am super happy with it but now I want to upgrade my gear and go for a better knife and I find the new mini recon folder very nice! Since I didn't follow the releases of their knives in the past few years I wonder if I'll still have to wait for half a year or do you think that their new products will be available very soon? Thanks in advance and have a nice day!

August 03, 2020 cold steel announced 4034 steel knives.
It is almost SEVEN months and nothing.
When 2021 lineup was announced , the next week a few models were for sale.
Cold steel has also advertised products over the years that were never released.
Here is the real trouble: do you want to buy from a company with ZERO customer service?
While they may offer a warranty, what and who would honor it?
NO ONE on social media pages nor here has ever stated since the GSM buy out, they had communication with them
No moderator on this board which I understand is a requirement yet it still exists???
If they are ever produced, what is the quality?
buy with caution and eyes wide open

Even pre-covid there was no knowing. Sometimes knives show up quickly, sometimes they never show up at all. The A2 lineup was promised for years. The Black Bear Classic was announced in 2019 and still doesn't exist. The best bet now, in my opinion, is to assume that what you see today is all that you will ever actually see.

More, it's hard to imagine Cold Steel surviving the idiocy they are pulling now. They are out of their freaking minds with these prices. I have personally written them off completely, my collection is finished and I am looking into other companies.

I have to agree.

It is wait-and-see what the future holds.

I am only interested in a few of the 2021 new products.

To be sure: I have never stuck with only one company for all kinds of tools and gear.

If you can’t wait for the Mini Recon 1, the full sized Recon 1 is a very good knife as well. And it comes in G10 + S35VN steel.

Yes I know, the recon 1 is a great blade but unfortunately it is too big to be carried legally here where I live. 3 1/2 inch blade is the maximum. So I am looking for a blade that corresponds to this and that is not too expensive either so that I actually use it. Color should be black or silver and black to match the rest of my edc.

I see. Happy hunting then. Spyderco has plenty of great knives in the sub-3.5” range.

Cold Steel is dead. There is an idiot company out there that has spent good money on the brand; only to fire the entire staff and change that brand name within the first week.

I doubt we will see much of anything from these guys once the remaining manufacturing contracts are done.
