Those laws actually go back quite a ways. Apparently they were meant to stop people from dueling in the streets.

so, the liberals were there then too. instead of just prohibiting duelling in public, they banned tools & self defence.

haven't heard of any duelling in vermont where thy repealed those silly type of laws.

It does look likely to me that in the next few years we'll get some rights back where knives are concerned. But for now I need to get around to getting some kydex made for my IBBB so I can draw it one handed.

Ive got a Pugs leather slip sheath for mine and is nice for one handed draw. I do have to catch the tang with my little finger first though because the handle slips down in the sheath just a bit. By the time I get it an inch out of the sheath I can close a full grip around it.

Although we don't have a lot of knife regulation in Vermont, it's New Hampshire that repealed everything.
(Although I think we have an 1840's era Bowie knife law tucked away somewhere lol)
In Vt as long as it's not a switchblade over 3" and you're not carrying it with the intent to hurt others (i think self defense is different from this but it's not a reason I'd give if asked in an official way) you can carry what you like-and I don't think there was anything to repeal...

ah, got my new england states flip-flopped in my brain. y'all up north of massachusetts tend to be more independent and involved with not abandoning your rights to the anonymous oligarchs of 'government' who know what's best for you. town meetings and all. local govt. at it's best. massachussetts is hopless.

in the good ol' days when we got revenoors (ATF agents) comin' around we'd just disappear them.

sadly now all that happens is that we know when they are coming from the neighborhood grapevine & the party lines (mary, stop gossipin'. y'all get off the phone i gotta call billybob bout the revenoor drivin' his way).

when they park up & search the woods, they usually return empty handed to find 4 flat tires, and occasionally a missing battery, spark plug wires, etc. cell phones help too. you can call gurney down at the still & he's got even more time to hide the thing. thermal cameras on aircraft are annoying, but they still gotta go in on the ground to ketch you. at least was like that when we last lived there in cullman & decatur counties.

Yes... I Ana Massachusetts resident and I have to jump through hoops every five years in order to renew my CCW or concealed weapons permit. The bad guys don't worry about these laws, they just ignore them. Some people still don't understand that a criminal by definition does not obey the law, therefore laws only apply to law abiding citizens. The illegal use of weapons should be the target, not the inanimate tool used to commit the crime.

Next thing you know they will start sueing Ford motors for drunk driving.

but...if ford did not supply cars my little 39 year old unemployed ex-high school honour student and high school linebacker son could not have driven head on at 120 mph into a bridge abutment. i'm suing not only ford, but all car mfg. also suing the bridge, the company who built it, the people who built it, and everyone who has ever driven over it, also the state bridge inspectors, the federal government and GWB.

he used texaco gas, so i'll sue them too. i am especially suing coors brewery, jack daniels distillery, and the local liquor store he bought them from with a phoney drivers license. and my main suit will be against the state drivers license authority, the police, and the state governor and legislature for letting him drive with an invalid suspended license which they took away from him for being in charge of a vehicle while 4x over the limit 3 times. if he'da had a valid license he'd not have died that day.

i'm suing for a billion dollars. best of all, i have a witness. my son will testify against all of them. he was dead, but he got better. doctor said it was not only the first fatal sprained finger he'd seen, but the quickest ressurection from the condition. oh, and we're suing for repairs to the car too. it'll cost 15 million to replace the broken headlight, adding in for pain and suffering. the nasty money grubbing insurance won't pay as they say it'll only cost $50 and my son hit the bridge at 1 mile/hour not 120. he should know, he was there. the insurance guy wasn't & is not taking this seriously. they oughtta pay for the wake. it was grand. we all got drunk, especially my son, who drove all the relatives home 'cus they had been drinking and might lose their licenses. i'm not gonna share with the other 16 relatives that had been packed into the pinto when my son smashed into the abutment. they was all passed out & refused to testify in court. of course some of them was underaged and didn't want their parents arrested for getting them drunk. what 12 year olds don't drink now, i ask ya. we're just glad none of them smoke more than an ounce a day & don't use anything harder than meth. they're good kids. their years in the pen did them good. after all most of them have their own kids to pay support for, so they best keep their noses clean.

p.s. - for all you nit-pickers, yes, we had the wake before the bridge jumped out and hit him. he was plannin' ahead.
