Why are traditional folders and fixed blades lumped into one category? Shouldn't their be a section for traditional folders, and a separate subforum for fixed blades?

Because there are traditional patterns for straight knives as well as folders. Most of the posts you'll see in this forum are about traditional folding knives but the occasional straight knife discussion does pop up from time to time.

Never mistake | for ||. It will lead to funny compiling errors and odd looks from your boss.
