question about zt 0777

I'll agree with you that the 777 is a hell if a knife that I'm greatly looking forward to, and leave it at that :)

I hope we get one. I have seen them being made... Somehow I remember (and it ain't what it used to be) that there were going to be quite a few 777's made, as compared to the very limited stuff, like the 3500, 3600, 4001 and the 888s.

Let's hope there are plenty to go around, because it will be a GREAT knife.

If you can find two and have the chance to get them, then so be it. Wish it was me that could swing that. It will be hard enough to find one, let alone two, when it comes out. I would love the opportunity to get my hands on one and love it and hug it....damn it Chester!!

While many don't agree with scalping. If someone is willing to pay a set price, even an astronomical one, it's their money. Look at the entire Hinderer market other than buying direct. And an investment is an investment. Knives can be likened to coins, guns ect.
 
Traditionally I've had ample opportunity to get limited edition knives. Even the Tilt, for example, was up on my favourite US dealer's site for about half a day. The Volt was up for nearly a week.
I know half a day wasn't much, but if you know the approximate time period (like, within a week) when things are shipping out and start checking twice a day (and I don't think it's unusual at this point for a normal person to check the computer twice a day), from that perspective it seems hard to miss.
On the other hand Kershaw LE knives do seem to be gaining in popularity, which means even if you miss one there should always be more, and in the end your super duper LE knife won't work three orders of magnitude better than a $0.50 paring knife anyway.

I just thing that some of the Order of Kai folks are getting a bit of a mob mentality.

Let's band together to promote and enlighten, not to belittle and heavy handedly correct or editorialize.

I whole heartedly agree 100%, some people from the Order of Kai are a bit condescending here on the Kershaw forums.
 
I do not try to be condescending as I'm still pretty much new to here and knives as I've only been into them for almost a year but also in text form sometimes things come off rude and whatnot and are not meant to be since text doesn't show your emotions or tones... and also I was born in NYC so I like to be blunt and to the point and I know it comes off bad..but thats me :D **Hugs for everyone**

Yujiro, welcome to the Kershaw forum. It can be hard to determine whether a knife will appreciate in value or not. I have seen some Kershaw Limited edition knives increase in value, and I have seen others decrease substantially. In my experience, knives generally appreciate in value because demand outpaces suppy.

When I really like a knife, I like to have one to use and one to keep as a backup or "safe queen". However, I usually end up selling the backup knife somewhere down the line when I want something new.... :)

I'm not sure why you are being given such a hard time, but thanks for coming by, and we hope to see more of you around here.

thanks for the answer that i have been looking for. so 0777 would be limited run or production run?

That was what I remember hearing as well, but it sounded high so I did not want to post it unless I was more sure - Thanks chester.
 
They also said that the 0551 was going to be limited to 1000, however if I can recall correctly there were quite a few more than that. I hope this is the case with the 0777. I want 2 so I can use one and have another as back up in case something bad happened to my primary one. For the people who are going to get more than 2, I seriously envy you :P
