A friend of mine picked it up and said that he was going to bring it over so i could try my hand at working it into something to be used for an anvil. Not sure where he got it or what it even is. He also said he had some railroad spikes so maybe they are from the same area? I will get an actual picture of it when he brings it over but from what he described, i drew a picture so i'l go ahead and post it. If anyone has any ideas of how i can turn it into an anvil that would be lovely or even if you have any ideas of what it could be. Im guessing that its around 80 pounds and it's definitely solid.

Edit : He weighed it and it weighs 90 pounds even.

As it sits, it sure is. But i just enjoy some history and he thinks its pretty old so i figured i would see if anyone had any input.

looks something like an antenna tower guy weight. they put a steel cable through the hole, then bury it in the ground, attach the cable to the tower to hold it up.

The dead man weights and anchors I saw for antenna poles and towers were either a large T or had a big disc on the buried end. It looks like a counterweight of some sort.

I built a mini-trebuchet for a high school science fair project once. It was about waist high to the pivot or so. My initial goal was to delve into the different kinds of forces and energies involved, and possibly calculate trajectories and velocities, and where and how far a 2oz rubber ball would land with a 30lb counterweight etc...

Turns out that that kind of stuff is a little advanced for even many college level courses, so I didn't quite make it that far. Everybody loved launching small projectiles clear across the full length of the gymnasium though. :D

I kind of want to build another now...
