I'm telling ya it's just the o rings. Once broke in it won't be there. Take the o rings off...ill bet it stops

It would be strange if the rubber caused lockup problems, but I guess it could be possible.
I'm pretty sure the rubber is compressing and the actual thumb-stud/stop-pin is compressed against the titanium.
 
he didnt say he had lock up problems. he said he had a small amount of blade play with a large amount of effort on his part. the o rings cushion the lock up, therfore if you try hard enough you'll force the blade to wiggle due to the cushioning. removing the orings allows the thumb studs to contact the handles 100% during lock up...no more wiggle

I hope it is that simple.
Vertical blade-play is a prime example of a potential lock-up problem, in my mind.
