Question concerning Demko

Difficulty in getting in touch with a maker could be a pretty good indicator that it's not a good idea to place an order with him/her.

True words ignored by the faithful, my brother.

Common sense does not rule the roost in this day and age.

I'd also like to point out to those of you who might not realize it.....that very, very strong lock mechanism(as featured on two Cold Steel models I have been field testing) comes at the cost of taking up an incredible amount of room in the handle which results in quite short blades, throwing off the blade-to-handle ratio.

It's pointless from my perspective.

STEven, I'm not sure about the production knives but the custom AD-10 has a 5 inch handle with a 3,5 inch blade. However, that includes a choil which allows you to choke up on the blade. Not a bad ratio to my eyes. There is a reason the knife is in such demand. Its incredibly robust and strong for a folder, but the ergonomics are fantastic. Yes, the back lock with extra security adds weight but its not nearly as heavy as you might think.

Here it is next to a RJ Martin Q-36 which really packs a lot of blade in there. The strong lock is a bonus but what I liked about it is the handle ergos, which really lock the hand in and the spear point blade. Also I've always been a fan of back locks. To me they just make sense.

Actually, it's a mid-lock, and I like them too, but your photo illustrates the point much better than I ever could, and the Q36 is VASTLY superior for the tasks that I go about...smooth one handed opening, cuts like a razor, ergos that also stick to the hand and slim, pocketable design.

If one requires a folding pry bar, than the Demko would certainly suit....it really matters what attributes are important....also I would say that R.J. Martin is very easy to communicate with.....have never tried communicating with Mr. Demko, but it doesn't seem very easy from this thread.

Two very different knives, agreed. Of the two, I kept the Demko, couldnt get used to a flipper.

I dont know about other folks but he always gets back to me. Ive had two AD-10s, working on my third. :)

Hi guys, sorry if I have not respond to or missed emails. I try to get to them but it is a very overwhelming task. I also made the mistake of taking to many hard to make folders and 1 of 1s that really slowed me down. I am finally in my new shop fully operational and hope to catch up a little. If anyone may need to please contact me at demkoknives@yahoo.com thanks

My special Demko #1, 5.5 inch long Elmax blade 0.2 inch thick with full titanium handle. The 5Max is the name, with multi gripping options, grooved handles for better grip and I believe it's currently the strongest Demko folder :)

Hi Mr. Demko, I've been waiting patiently since 2011 to get one of your folders.
I'm sending another email, but I thought I should touch base here too, since our last contact was by PM in August of 2012.
