Question Edge 2000 and 440C

So........I'm having trouble understanding what you did to that old blade. Any info links that would make it easy to visualize?

Also.......it occurs to me that I could be skeptical about the virtues of 440C and Edge 2000.

Maybe such a thin cutting edge would not work with 440C?

It occurs to me that maybe Buck won't do it....not because they couldn't......but because they tried it and things didn't work out so well.

Anxiety.

If you want to doubt the word of Bill Keys, the Buck Engineering Supervisor, be my guest.
You think he lied in his written report?

Idunno......are you as upset as you sound?

Are we talking about the same thing? Did he say "440C stainless steel with edge geometry just outside of edge 2000."

I don't know what he might have meant by that......how far outside? And WHY? And what does "outside" mean in this context?

Intentionally vague? I don't know.

It's hard to say because they are so secretive about certain things.

Unless I hear evidence to the contrary, I'm going to go with the conclusion that Buck refuses to put the Edge 2000 on the old 440C knives we send in because it is 1. Too difficult. or 2. Problems with edge chipping or 3. Both.

There was that one old (2001-2002 or so) post in a link above where the guy claimed that Buck put Edge 2000 on his old knives, but I wonder if maybe he just assumed it and never really knew if that was what they did.

It would be nice to get a response from Buck, but they seem too busy to talk these days.
