Question for AD users

I just got an AD from Bad Ass Knives - thanks Mike! Actually Fed Ex came through a day early and I got it Christmas eve.

My question is how many AD users left the loop on vs how many cut it short? I like the size of the knife for concealed carry (Yes, it's legal in KY with a CCW permit) but the loop seems a bit large.

Any uses of the loop besides the obvious?

I cut mine short. I wear it under an un-tucked shirt mostly and the lanyard seemed to get in the way.

I left it on and I STILL have it on. During a hair-raising situation, when I had to pull the AD from my neck sheath (which was under an untucked T-shirt), the loop got in the way and almost made me drop the damn thing! Cut it off and burn the cut ends slightly with a lighter. I ought to follow my own advice.

I for now have left the loop large. I wear it with a 1 1/2" wilderness belt. Having the extra room allows me to have it angle foward some behind the side belt loop of my pants. I still think this is my favorite of my Striders.

IMHO, it depends what the knife is to be used for. A knife like the AD is generally going to be carried concealed discretely on the body - in this mode the loop can get in the way. If you are carrying it on a boat or on a hiking trip-the lanyard makes sense to protect against losing the knife if it is dropped. Personally though, I'm not a fan of lanyards and generally don't have them on my knives.
