Question for Joe Houser

Now THAT is interesting...that groove was made with a ball-end mill bit...my 119/120 blood grooves were made with a grinding wheel...I wonder when/why they changed...

Here's a 120 with a lengthwise ground blood groove...

The blood grooves on my 2006 119 look like they were made with a mill bit.

A LOT of good questions in this thread...To answer the first one, you can send them in and we will take care of the pommel, and bad edge. I need to check on the blood groove. I am pretty sure we switched from abrasive belt sanded groove to the one we use now since we moved to Idaho.
I had the answer to why the premium steel blades are slightly shorter, and it had something to do with the way we produce their blanks. I thought for sure I passed that info along but let me see if I can get the answer again.
FWIW shaving 1/4" off the length would not cut our costs appreciably.
