Question for Kershaw OD-1 owners

I've also considered removing the flipper and the clip, tightening the pivot (more than possible while retaining flip-ability), and making one into a gentleman's, two-handed opening knife. Something that can just be tossed into a pocket and be classy (especially with a hardwood scale), but inexpensive.

Phillip

I really like this idea.

Does anyone have some kind of picture or a graphic showing how the mechanism works by any chance? Because I somehow still don' t understand how it works despite some people here trying to explain it:confused:

It works similar to the cams on a compound bow if that helps
understanding the mechanics any. I can't think of any other
way to explain it.

Go buy one and take it apart.........:D

What's this Kershaw gang yall speak of?
;)

I took these a month or so ago.

Keep in mind that in the last pic it still wasn't tightened up all the way. The pin protrudes further into the cutout on the mech.

well i cant say much more then what has been said. But I can say that kershaw has done a killer job with this knife. It is one that I carry regularly. Its a great companion to my Sebenza. Locks up just as tight and with a good steel to match.

Thanks for the photos 2brothers. That last photo illustrates the mechanism perfectly. There is a more recent thread regarding the OD-1 and I was going to ask the same question as the OP, but did a Google search instead.

I just wanted to say thanks. :)

What type of bit is needed for the clip screws? I tried a torx t-6 and it seems to fit but instead it just spins in their. It looks like I may be using the wrong tool or the screws heads may be stripped.

The bit appears to be in good condition. It looks like a six pointed star if I stare at it straight on. The insides of the screws themselves have no distinct shape though.

Darn...I guess this means that the screws are stripped. Should I contact Kershaw or just see if Walmart will allow me to exchange it for a different one?
