Question for Lefties....

When you carry a right hand only knife do you carry it on your weak side typically, or backwards in your left hand pocket? I'm worried about a knife opening in my pocket because the blade isn't being held shut, does this happen often??

Simple question, but I just wonder what everyone else is doing, primarily with an assisted opener...

I tried carrying a knife that only had right hand pocket clip placement, hated it, never tried again. I learned how to drill and tap the knife for left hand tip up afterwards. if it was something that my drill couldn't handle, I either didn't buy it or (pending size) would just take the clip off and carry in my left front pocket.

If the knife is set for right handed tip up, carry it in your left back pocket against the seam so it can't open. If the knife is set for right handed tip down, you can carry it in your left front pocket against the seam so it can't open.

Perfect, thank you very much.

I'm not backwards, I'm an advanced humanoid species waiting for the righties to catch up.

Fair argument, but some awesome knives only come in righty. Reference the HTM GunHammer... super cool knife, righty only.

I only saw a review on that blade and can't remember the specifics but it wasn't enough there for me to buy it.

Unless there is a compelling reason, I wont buy / use a right only blade...

I am pretty much there with you!

I don't like spending a ton on a knife if they're not left-handed specific. I can do ambi-opening or maybe something like an axis lock at a reasonable price but I will not pay big money for a right-handed lock when I can just get a custom from someone who will make me a lefty frame or liner lock.

Both very fair arguments, I actually just bought a Lefty Umnumzaan because I liked the idea of a knife tailored especially to me. But also as a collector I wanna find a work around that I can use so that I can carry anything I want.

I don't buy ANY knives that are righty only.

I have some that I either found or were given as gifts. But will never purchase one.

Which sucks because there are some nice knives that I would buy.

Knife makers should pay attention.
