Another thing you may want to consider is a X Y axis cross slide vise for your drill press. Might end up having a bit more power that way.

Here is an inexpensive one(not the best for precision work) but a possibility. I have a 3/4 horse floor model drill press and it has been a good addition to my Taig mini mill
