Anyone have any experience with Kel-Tec brand firearms ?

They have some interesting designs but I haven't really heard anything about the brand.
Chime in if you have heard anything good or bad or if you have used one.

have you seen the 12 gauge they are coming out with in 2012 ? the 14 shot bullpup pump ?
It looks good.
They make a 308 bullpup I am interested in too

I've got a PF9... It's good for what it is -- a small, cheap 9mm that goes bang when you pull the trigger. The PF9 is DAO and has a really long trigger pull, on purpose. It's not the most comfortable thing to shoot, for sure, but it's not horrible. For $250, you can't go wrong. A buddy of mine also has one, and has had no trouble with it (nor have I).

While similar Rugers may be more refined, the Keltecs seem to be -- IIRC -- largely foolproof. Fewer recalls and so on.

I had a Taurus 780TCP and sold it after it went back to the factory twice, and was headed back for a third visit.

So, I don't have experience with anything but the PF9, but would buy another Keltec without hesitation. So long as you recognize that you're buying a no-frills gun at a low price, you should be happy.

I agree with Flivver, for what you pay they are really good guns. I used to have the 380 that would fit in my pocket but when I was a reserve deputy we were not allowed less than a 9mm for off duty carry. So I got rid of it. It is not a spend a day at the range gun but point, squeeze and wait for the flash. They work when needed. Good luck.

though I don't own one I wouldn't hesitate to buy one, period... their customer service is spot on.... no worries with kel-tec, I know many that have them.. I just sold my 'old' Walther ppk so I may be in the market for a light gun soon and kel-tec fits that bill pretty nicely..

I'm a glock guy for auto's, and if glock could legally sell their 380 in the states my replacement search would be over.. :D

Another vote yes. I have a first-generation P3AT that I've never had a problem with and carry everyday.

They are good guns because they are light and small enough to actually have with you. Would recommend the laser
grips.

I've never heard anything bad about them, but IMO if you are looking for a EDC, I would spend a little money on a higher grade name or a Glock. I'm not a name whore or anything, just saying you don't get to the top of the firearm world by making junk. And I would not risk my life to something that does "ok" at the range. Personally I carried a Glock until just a month ago when I got back from Iraq and my wife got me a Sig Sauer P239 in 9mm. I know people who bought the High Point brand because they are around 250-300 and they jam every third round. Just something to think about. Good luck!!

The new 14 shot shotgun is exspensive like $750 or so. Rem 870 is better IMO.
The bullpup .308 is around $1400, that is insane for a company thay specializes in $300 pocket guns.
I don't care for them. There are so many other really nice guns I want.
Let us know how you make out.

I had a PF11 it was a nice size for CCW and light. I put around 1500 rounds through it with no malfunctions. However I hated it, the trigger pull was very long and very heavy. The recoil was a lot and my finger would get pinched in the trigger guard. My wife tried shooting it she is not an expert but not a complete novice either. She had trouble holding it straight and applying enough force to the trigger to fire it. The muzzle would drop as she pulled the trigger and she was shooting into the ground 10 feet in front of her. Dont take this as me flaming Kel-Tec it worked and was a good price. I would recommend trying one before you buy it.

Yikes at 1400 bucks for their 308 ..lol for 1400 bucks i can get a very nice Bushmaster.
But there is something sexy about a 14 shot bullpup 12 gauge shotgun.

The Kel-Tec below is often in my pocket. If you saw me at the Beckerhead Gathering, it was in there just in case someone went all ape$#!* on the firing range. :D
No problems with it, though it does have a very long trigger pull (intentionally so). I would not mind having the PF-9 and that .22 conversion kit for it.
I'm glad this thread came along, because it reminded me I really needed to clean the P3AT. It's all shined up in this picture.

FYI, in the future, try to include more Becker content or make it absolutely clear that you're addressing a Becker audience. (I edited your thread title.)
We like to keep the Becker community threads in the Becker subforum, knowing that BK&T includes all manner of outdoor skills and pursuits beyond just knives.
Sometimes, however, that retention of threads might be easier said than done.

IMO, the P3AT is the AK47 of semiauto pocket pistols, they are pretty cheap, shoot whatever you buy, and almost never jam. They're great guns.

Blasphemy !!!!! :D
GSSF memeber !!!!

Calm down, Calm Down. She also got me a Glock 26 to accompany my 17. Lol. The 26 and Sig compete for my attention, but the Sig has a crossbreed holster, so he gets to ride most often.

Back on track... get a Crossbreed holster. Plain and simple. So amazingly comfortable, and i can wear just a t-shirt to conceal it. It also works with tucking shirts in.

damn. had a great post, but it was eated...

their RFB 308 is a specialty weapon, like the KSG - bullpups in particular. there's just not a selection on the market in that range. you pay what you pay. though i expect a price drop on the RFB soon, due to new manufacturing techniques.

KT actually has more rifles than they do pistols. prices range all over. many .223 variants, and a .22 as well

their folding sub-2000 is pretty sweet, borrowing on HKs use of popular pistol magazines to give you some extra range. not a bad toy at all.

the PMR-30, is a pretty good gun, and unique in .22 WMR (magnum). sweet. priced right too at around $350 street. can hold *30* rounds.

soon, the RMR-30, based on the PMR-30, but a HK mp7 style carbine? will appear. uses the same magazines or possibly extended :> :D :} really looking forward to that.

and the KSG - 14+1. $750ish. some people say "so what? over priced". well, not many shotguns that can do better than 7+1, and almost none that can do it without added extensions or bulky magazines. turn that into a bullpup, and you've got something special - enough to capture a LOT of attention. i dare say, unique. plus it can handle 3 inch magnum shells. hot.

i haven't even touch on their other pistols as i've never used them.

pretty unique company overall. good stuff. great customer service from what i've seen and read.

Bladite you read my mind.

The Shotgun to me is exciting, amazingly compact, innovative design rear ejecting 14+1 rounds up to 3 inch magnum shells, I wish companies like Remington would think out of the box like this.
You can center the tube selection switch too and single load specialty rounds straight into the gun, one at a time but still.
That is the main reason why I asked about Kel-Tec, I want that Shotty but didn't know enough about the company.

Thank you for all the great input guys.

i wouldn't worry about it, that KSG will be so popular you won't get your hands on one for a couple years ;) heh heh heh

okay, have your dealer place an order now :D
