Anybody else have any problems getting their new subscriptions from the Blade Show?

Here's my story:

I paid $29 cash for a 2-year subscription to Knives Illustrated at the Blade Show. I got it from an older gentleman with glasses, medium height, grayish hair (trying my best to recollect).

Anyway, when I signed up I knew I would be moving soon (but didn't know what my new address would be). I explained this to him and he said to just put in my current address and then change it later.

So, he puts 2 magazines in a bag for me (part of the signup deal), hands me a receipt (which I have somehow misplaced), and I head on my way.

I moved at the end of June. About three weeks ago, I sent an email to Knives Illustrated via their website explaining the situation. I included both my old address and new address.

A week or two after that I get a form letter in the mail saying there was no such address on their records, and if I want my subscription, I need to show them my receipt.

Well, anybody that's been to Blade knows what a whirlwind it is....and worse than that....I started packing after the show. I have looked high and low for that receipt - in every possible place I know and can't find it.

So what should I do?

I know it's my fault that I lost the receipt - and believe me, it's causing me pain - but it's their fault they don't have my address. They took the sale and should have kept better records....it's not my responsibility to "remind" them of my subscription. They have my money and I have nothing....:(

I asked if I could speak with the person who sold me the subscription - but have not yet received a response back (it's been two weeks).

I can't just "let it go".....$29 could have gone toward more supplies.....

Help? :(

Mod note: The matter is not yet resolved, so that's why this is not yet posted in GB&U.

Sorry to here of your situation Dan. I subscribe to Blade and Knife World but not Knives Illustrated. I'm not sure what you can do about that problem, but I can tell you about a problem I had with Tactical Knives. I was a subscriber with them almost since their beginning. I had a terrible time with delivery. Sometimes I wouldn't get it until two or three weeks after it hit the newsstand. I wrote to Steven Dick the editor of the magazine and it helped for awhile but after about six months the same thing all over again. I never renewed even though I like the mag. I guess the only thing is to pester the hell out of them until you find out who the individual was that was at the Blade show. Maybe a few more people like Bobby Branton will come forward and you guys can go at this as a group. If it happen to you guys, there may be others with the same problem. Good luck
Scott

I found my receipt.

Allow 8-10 weeks for delivery

I've got my reciept, but no mags yet. It's on about the ninth week now ?

On the other hand I've recieved my second issue of Blade Magazine yesterday.

8-10 weeks for delivery?

Let's see....I got mine the first week of June. 8 weeks would have been last Monday....so we got a week-and-a-half to go? IF I actually have a subscription coming to me....

Still haven't received anything - or heard back from the publisher....

????

This is a bummer (so far), but I hope it works out.
Off to GB&U

Just got off the phone with Knives Illustrated. Got it all straightened out. Anybody else who is having problems, I recommend doing the same. Here's the number:

1-800-999-9718

She said October will be sent out in the mail (for everybody) in a few days. So, if you have any doubts, get the call in now (vs. next week, etc.)

Thanks to K.I. for taking care of this and thanks to you guys for providing me some group therapy....:D

just saw your post. I was going to give them a call this afternoon. I just called the # you gave to check up on things. The labels are printed and the mags go out later in the week.

None here....:(

We may have to wait until October to read the Oct issue....

I was going to recommend giving them a call but sounds as if that aspect is cleared up. I can second the issue with Tactical Knives (missed delivery of issues) and I would miss approximately 2 issues per year. I was only able to come to the conclusion from several telephone calls to Harris Publishing that there must have been a USPS worker who was as interested in blades as I was.

I haven't recieved an issue YET!
I just called the number above ( 1-800-999-9718) and she confirmed my addy and is going to remail me my issue.

Call her if you haven't gotten anything yet. I guess this is the way they do business.

I've also sent a link to this thread to the editor and the advertising depts.

Let's see what (if anything) they do.
