I managed to score a Ruck
Quantity Available = VERY SMALL!!!!
a little while back.

For those of you with both, how do you contrast them in feel. While the Ruck "might" end up in backpack duty, the primary purpose of both :o are probably "zombie killers" for me.

So... how do they differently do they feel? Comparisons?

Thanks! :D

To me the ruck felt like a chopper. My dad also thought it was quite blade-heavy for a sword. I have not handled an AK.

Also, I was not partial to the handle of the Ruck. I would have prefer a thicker or magnum handle.

the ruck is a good chopper imo. the best i own. though i would prefer thicker scales, they still feel pretty good.

no ak yet. :(

The AK is a little less "forward heavy" feeling, making it feel more "swordy." It also has thicker handle scales.

Here's just my opinion: The Ruck feels like a really long knife. The AK feels like a really short sword. With the Ruck being just a little shorter, it seems a little more "reasonable" to carry into the woods (both functionally and aesthetically. What I mean is that it's not so long that #1 - it's unmanageable and #2 - you don't look like a silly ninja :D well, maybe a little silly, but i can live with that...)

I still really want Cobalt to trim the handle on his Ruck. Seems to me like it might make it even more appealing and manageable

The AK is the perfect "survival/combat sword" for me. Very light and swift. A great chopper. And if I am killing zombies I really do not care if I look like a ninja. BECAUSE I AM A NINJA!

:p :p :p

I should say that I've not actually USED the AK -- only "air swings"...

But you have a Pony Tail!!!! That makes it totally cool for you to be a Ninja

Oh! O.K. :D I'll run with that one. (My hair was actually down to the middle of my back a few years ago but I cut it for some Jits/Shooto training. But now I don't mind rollin' with long hair. )

But I really do feel the AK would be great in an urban survival scenario. Both as a tool and as a weapon (when bullets are not desired or not an option). And although I have not handled a Ruck yet I think I would like the handle on the AK better. Just a preference thing. Both blades rock.

thats a hard one, the ruck, to me is a ruck very fast and compact a real fighter if needed and fun to just use, i like to throw mine, yard darts!

the AK is in a league all of it's own, it's a killer, one or two hands, i'm having one modified to fix as a banet (drunk rifle attachment forward of muzzle) on my ar.

a set would be great if you can swing it:thumbup:

if not, if you can only have one, go with the ruck.

I hope to do a comparison this weekend with a fellow INFIdel. My Ruck and his AK. We'll take pics and post our findings and thoughts once the brush has been cleared.

PM, who did that sheath? I need one. I have stripped my Ruck, working on giving it a hand-rubbed finish before I send it off to be sheathed.

That's a Knob Creek special. Made right at the show.

PM will have to give you the guy's name as I never caught it.

Where do you get a RUK? I just dont care for the tan ones. I want an AK but gettin the scratch between guns and scotch aint easy.

Personally, I think that the Ruck is more of a "Jack of all Blades" than the AK... I could see using the Ruck in the field from machete tasks to chopping tasks to defense tasks and suceeding well at all for it's weight and room taken in your pack... the AK to me is more of a defender and chopper, but too heavy/cumbersome for bushwhacking/machete tasks, and heavier/more awkward for the pack... Just my thoughs, I have both. I LOVE using both the AK & the Ruck, but would only take the Ruck if no base camp option. Nice Sheath, BTW! :D

EDITED to add: As for FEEL... The AK & Ruck are the same in blade thickness, but the Ruck has a much slimmer handle profile... Very oval when looking at the butt as compared to the AK almost being a completely round circle. The Ruck really allows for one-handed control. the AK wields better with both hands. :D

Yeah I knew they were ganza's I was just complaining an hopin SKUNK might drop some "leftovers" in the trough. I really like the size compared to the AK. 2ndary market ehhh. well I doubt anyone would wanna get rida that beaut.

The ruck is more forward heavy and the AK feel better balanced for air chops. The ruck is much easier to carry in a (what is the word?) ... o yeah, a ruck:)

The ruck feels better one handed than the AK.

Both are way too cool, and all of the other ninjas are jealous:p

Did I mention that my AK has a Desert Camo finish too:D
