I am up late thinking (always a dangerous thing) and I was wondering.

Why is Rusty's favorite Kuk the 12" Sirupati? (Only by our standards would we call this knife tiny….most people would consider this knife huge.) Light in weight, great ability to be concealed, and most of all the indestructible characteristics of a kuk I understand.

Rusty, my questions to you are:

1. Who is the kami that you find makes the “pocket battleship” the way you like it the most often?

2. What aspects do you like the most about “Audrey”? (Also, if you could, please describe those aspects. Measurements of angles, curvatures?)

3. Lastly, what type of rig do you have to carry “Audrey”?

I don’t have a true “concealed” rig (not that I would ever wear it being in a state that doesn’t allow the carry of such things), and I was wondering about these aspects.

Also, the design issue has come up about new Khukris. And I am looking into a new project.

Rusty, if you were to design a new 12" something, what would it be?

Thank you,

Dave

Rusty,
I can understand...I moved to a new apt today and then drove 150 miles home.

Dingy day...yeah. (they need a tired smiley)

Last question first: I don't. Oh, I had some delightful ideas, but they couldn't match up to what's already out there.

Third question: Standard sheathe. I don't carry her. I just feel better with her at the computer desk or in my car trunk ( in a fanny pack next to the 4" threaded barreled .25acp Jetfire with regular magazine plus 2 spare loaded mags. MSC all copper hp's and Glasers ).

Second: Audrey is an 8 1/4" 3/8" spine with the straightest bend and the smallest handle of any sirupati I've seen. As a result of that her balance is such that kindly benevolent people who wouldnt hurt a fly ( Howard, Yvsa, et al. ) pick her up and a minute later you see them switching holds on her under the table and their fangs hanging out. Think of her as a guard dog left to range inside a fence at a military base with NBC weapons. Say a female doberman with vocal cords severed, trained to stop biting when the atackee stops moving ( breathing ).

She and the "pocket battleship" AK were shop 1 and makers unknown.

One: the 12" AK "pocket battleship" is so heavy she's a blem and noticed as an AK only on one side. The other side has to be looked at closely to see a fuller at the elbow.

Sorry for taking so long to reply. But out of 5 12"ers, 2 sirupatis and 3 AK's the other sirupati is nothing like Audrey, and in between the 2 dui chirra type ak's and none have the feel of the pocket battleship.

Darn it, the feel and spirit of these khuks makes them hard to give them a proper description. But I'm thinging of turning a dui/tin chirra AK bowie into pocket battleship by shortening it a half inch behind the cho, extending the tang to just behind the cho and sortening the butt and moving the handle slabs forward. That would take off the last 3" of handle... no more thinking. Go take medication before start new project.

Out helping bail out an impoverished fellow by buying a gun or two and a few ... er, um, boxes - yes, that's it... 3 boxes of ammo. Of course he hopes the bail will be refunded eventually. In any case ( why does using that word bother me ? ) it makes me feel all good inside that he'll at least "be home for Christmas", and not only in his dreams.

BTW, Yvsa, have Barb check the mail Friday. There's something supposed to be in the mail that day. I didn't go into Joe's Tavern and make the pawnbroker come down and open his shop this afternoon just to let the USPS take ten days to get it there. Maybe she'll let you see it. It didn't specify YOU were to get it, so maybe she'll decide it's about time someone acknowleged there are (ahem) times when putting up with you (/ahem) is noteworthy.

And actually I do need to stock up for meds to see me thru the trip. Maybe tomorrow - wonder if I can pick up tickets in Fallon or go to Reno?

OH, and Uncle Bill, please let the others on the forum know there really is a Joe's Tavern and it is rather legendary among the cognoscenti ( the nice word for drunks ). And next to the only actual working traffic light between Fallon and Las Vegas at that!

Okay Bro. I will get Barb to take the tongs to the mailbox on Friday just in case the package is moving or making a funny rattleing noise.;)

Hey, I haven't done stuff like that since back during the synanon days when I was trying to decide whether to join the Students for a Democratic Society just to give the FBI the finger right after they decided the SDS was Unamurrican and made it illegal.

( Besides, it was my comparative religion teacher at Modesto JC that they were looking for in relation to a large number of rattlesnakes in the basement of the place he rented.

Nothing at all to do with introducing me to the Reverend Mr. Kirby J. Hensley. Ordination was free, but I didn't have the $20 on me for the Doctorate. Hail, no wonder - that was my second year so I was only 17 years old or somewheres around there. )

And besides, what the jerks did to Cinque and the Symbionese Liberation Army led me to question if I should bother since they obviously didn't know how to take a joke in the LA area.

Rusty, all of northern Nevada would be under a pending domestic terrorist alert if it were not for the meds.

And you can say that when Southern Nevada has Vampire Gerbil out flying around area 51?

Your not pointing quite far south enough Rusty. You know d@mn well LasVegas IS the biggest hive of villainy and scum in the universe!

Maybe the biggest, but for quality it can't come close to touching the Nye County seat, Tonopah. Get a copy of the "Nye County Brothel Wars". Can't remember author's name or find my copy offhand.

I'll have to agree, Rusty. I lived in Nye Country when the brothel wars were going on. Bill Martin who had the Shamrock up at Lathrop Wells was shot and killed while I was living just down the road south near Stateline. As you know, Sherry of Sherry's Crystal Palace and I were big buddies and I was pretty close with Fran up at Beatty, too.
