Question for Sal - Can the Laminate CF from Taiwan be used on a Golden-made knife?

I echo the "put it on the P2" sentiment. I'd also like it on a Delica or similar smaller model.

I would like to see Taiwanese style CF on Golden knives and do not care at this time if this is solid or laminate. Also I really like CF on Dodo. For my perception it is the best CF, which I saw on Golden and Japanese knives. I do not like smooth or polished CF on my Caly, UKPK, N4, Kopa (but I love the knives) and so on. Cannot wait for CF N5, hopefully it will be the same CF like Dodo, Taiwanese style will be fine.

+1

That about sums up my opinion as well. CF is by far my favorite scale material.

I personally can't stand that peel-ply carbon fiber. I think it's hideous, and I love carbon fiber on knives. I was going to buy the Sage 1 and the Gayle Bradley, but I learned that they were both peel-ply. I love the designs, but I can't stand grippy carbon fiber. It feels so cheap.
You learned wrong. The Sage I and Gayle Bradley use what some call basket weave CF. The surface is "textured", rather than flat, but it's most definitely not peel- ply, more like a series of small "pillows", like a miniature version of a quilted down jacket as opposed to peel-ply CF and G-10, which look like someone glued a piece of window screen on top of them. IMHO, the stuff on the Sage, Bradley, Chaparral, and some other models from Taiwan looks as good as smooth CF.

EDITED TO ADD:

This is the basketweave CF laminate from Taiwan (knife is a Terzuola Slip-It):

This is Japanese Peel-Ply CF (knife is a CF Stretch):

This is US Peel-Ply CF (knife is a CF Military):

It already seemed like a stretch for the US models to get this material but I think its even more unlikely now. If I were Sal, I wouldn't bring it to the US models (which is unfortunate) because I'd be tired of the BS it received. Some people have unnecessarily strong opinions against it and I just wouldnt want to deal with it. We are already hearing about recent CF developments within Spyderco which is good news.

When I asked Sal point blank if I could get some of that material to make a new set of scales for my GB, he said it was not available. Granted, that was a couple of years ago and things can change, but don't hold your breath.

Paul are those knives really blue or is the lighting funky making the black look blue?

It's either my lighting, my monitor settings, or yours, D. Handles all look black and the blades various shades of grey on my 25" HP, but I know from my working days that I tend to run my brightness, contrast, and color temp settings lower than most folks.
